Hi,

Are others not getting Ad-Aware 2007 definition updates?

I have been running Ad-Aware 2007 for some time without any
problems. I had tried 2008 but had a problem where it stopped
running after about 30 seconds.

On the 10th July I ran the check for updates and it told me that
there was a new update manager. I elected to go with it and
along with the update manager I received an update to 2008.
Hoping that it had been fixed I allowed the update to proceed and
then got all of the available updates - 14 in total plus the data
file.

When I ran it I found the same problem - it stopped working after
32 seconds with nothing happening other than the elapsed time
count increasing. The following info may be of use:-

Doing a full scan
Total objects scanned 2301 reached at 0mins 32 secs.

Section Deep scanning Registry
Path ..-1005\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version
Object Run

I tried to cancel the scan after 5 minutes with no luck - I had
to delete the program in Task Manager to actually stop it.

I then used Add or Remove programs to remove 2008 and then
re-installed 2007 using the original installation file. The
problem with this is that the definitions file is dated 6th
November, 2007. I tried to update the definition file but that
failed saying that it had completed after a few seconds. I ran
2007 and that ran to the finish ok using the old definition file.

I am running Windows XP Pro with all updates installed except
Service Pack 3 on a 3.2GHz Pentium 4 PC with 1Gb of ram.

I checked on the LavaSoft site and found that 2007 updates had
been stopped on 7th July but were to be made available on the
10th July. I tried again today and found that the update still
didn't work saying that it had completed updating after a few
seconds.

Is it possible to manually update 2007 by downloading the update
file from the Lavasoft site and installing it in the 2007
directory? If this can be done I would appreciate guidelines on
how to do it.
