just started having trouble reading email in Yahoo accounts... recent
messages start to load, then screen blanks and lower left corner shows
js.worthathousandwords.com
Did a search, nothing really helpful showed up.
I restored my computer using a GHOST image, and problem continues, so I'm
guessing Yahoo might be having a problem, since my Hotmail accounts are
working ok...
Running XP with Firefox as browser...

It's an ad serving company.

There is a good clue that it is a yahoo problem.

Add the following lines to your HOSTS file:
127.0.0.1 worthathousandwords.com
127.0.0.1 js.worthathousandwords.com

My guess is that yahoo's new ad server supplier is having a server
problem, and your browser is waiting for it.
Add the above-mentioned lines to your HOSTS file.

should have been clearer about the problem....
1. running Windows-XP-pro, using firefox as browser
2. when I try to read new email messages in my Yahoo accounts, I get into
some loop looking for:
js.worthathousandwords.com
3. this only affects my Yahoo accounts, not my hotmail accounts
4. email that I received yesterday still downloads and displays ok
5. email that I received earlier today is still OK
6. only email that I received in the last couple hours is affected.
7. email that I send out from my Yahoo to my hotmail accounts display ok,
but I notice that it seems to be searching for "something" for a long
time!...
8. my antivirus/spyware/adware programs are up to date as of today, and
scans are negative.
9. I've nuked and restored my drive to a known good GHOST image 3 times in
the last hour or so, without any improvement
my guess is that Yahoo has either made some sort of change that's causing
the problem, or they have been hacked... Anybody else having problems with
Yahoo?...

Personally, I have never once had to 'nuke a drive' since an
installation of Windows 2.0 ate itself.

there's a big difference between "having to" and "wanting to" nuke a
drive... I choose to nuke and restore as a method of making certain my
system is as clean as it can be, even though I update and use anti- scans as
well. Not only do I purge my computer of any malware, but I also get rid of
programs I was testing. If I find something I like, it gets incorporated
into the next GHOST image that I make, something I do every few months
generally.
it's quick, it's easy, and it works! Hard to beat that! Also, the process
essentially defrags the C: drive each time, just an extra benefit...
wonder what lurks in YOUR computer? If you built it a year or so ago and
have been adding and deleting "stuff" since then, there are probably a LOT
of little bits and pieces floating around... old registry entries and other
things that Windows just never quite gets rid of...
As for the problem I was having... just checked email and it's working
normally again, so whatever it was, it's been fixed.
