Unhappy System shutdown and won't quit rebooting

Compter was working fine and I had been printing stuff also when a screen came up with some kind of shutdown notice and problem. After shutting down and rebooting on its own it then went to a page that says sorry about the inconvenience... blah blah blah and offers 5 options to reboot such as safe mode or safemode in network or safemode at command prompt or reboot back when it was working right or normal windows. (paraphrasing some)

I tried every option and all it does is reboot back to that same page. Tried hitting f8 and it doesn't help but still just ends up back at the same page. Any suggestions?

I'm not very computer literate but I can follow detailed instructions if anyone has an idea on how to get out of this.

Edited to add the pc is HP pavillion and its XP.

Sorry nobody got back to you before now. We need to know the exact wording of the shut down notice and problem. Did it say the computer was shutting down, or a program or?

The page you get when you hit F8 is the page you are supposed to get when you hit F8 which is the boot options page. See attached, is this what you mean? This is the correct page to receive when you hit F8

Can you boot at all without hitting F8? Also, were you printing something online, offline?
