Most of the reason is the "MUST BE UP TO DATE" brainwashing, which leads people into a vicious cycles that OS writers KNOW about which continue their drive to make "UPDATES" for monetary reasons, rather than making the OS go faster, or do more with the CPU.. or make the games run smooooother.................. After a certain time, they decide to put stuff into the latest batch of updates that will render your hardware incompatible, no updated drivers, no support, so you will be forced to not be able to back out of it, and get stuck trying to make it work by buying one little thing, or two or three big things,,, trying to make it workk.... untill the next batch of new things are said to be "BETTER" with the new OS, so then they force the next new OS based on new hardware driver suport, based on "I WANT YOU TO SPEND MORE MONEY ON MY LATEST STUFF" even though your older stuff was just as good.
