    I really don't see anything in the logs indicating any infection. I do have to say, though it is too late, you missed the key sentence in the sticky concerning System Restore;
    You will need to flush your restore points AFTER the fixing process has been completed to ensure that no malware is preserved.
    If the system was running "clumsily" as you state the it System Restore shouldn't have been turned off. But as I said, it is too late now. Once the computer was running smoothly then would be the time to set the new Restore Point by turning it off and then Turning it back on.
    It probably wasn't a good idea either to install SP3 until the computer was running smoothly, but it is done too.

    I notice on your sytem specs that at one time you were running the McAfee Security Center. When you uninstalled this are you absolutely certain that all was removed? Did you do a file search to be certain that there were/are no remaining files which could still be running, even though they don't show in the logs? If not, I would recommend doing that just to be sure. This could account for the clumsiness you are experiencing.
    About the only thing I can recommend you try is running a scandisk and having it fix any of the errors it may find. You might need your Windows XP CD for this.
    Follow the instructions here;
