You won't be sorry Michelle, you will be truly amazed at the difference! Can't wait to hear how it goes.
Lovely warm weekend here in Central Indiana...of course today the temps are 20 degrees cooler than yesterday. In Indiana we live by the rule...if you don't like the weather then wait an hour it will change!
Hi Judy-
I ran into a problem and need some help.....
I installed the ram but when I turned the comp on the blue HP suare in the front did NOT light up as usual. But the small orange light underneath it came on (which never does) and so did the fans but there was nothing on the screen. I tried to re0install and still nothing. I then tried to put the old ram back in but that didn't help either. Still can't get it to turn on.
Another thing. I keep reading where ppl say thier comp does a series of beeps when initailly turned after installing the new ram, mine does not do this...
Any suggestions? I've done this before without a hitch......
I'm usins kingston hyperx memory and I have an hp.....
Thanks...
Are you certain you installed it the correct direction and pushed it into the slots until the little locks snapped on?
I'm positive the white snaps snapped close, but I'm not positive it's in the correct way..... I put the sticker (with the memory info etc..) facing the same way the other one was. If that was correct, I'm not sure? I thought it would be but I may be wrong.
Look inside the case, make absolutely certain you have not dislodge a wire. I did this recently replacing a hard drive and it was a very small wire, I believe to the power button, though I cannot recall now. Look very closely to be certain that everything is plugged in where it should be. I wonder if this isn't the problem since reinstalling the old RAM doesn't make a difference, and you know that was good, just not enough.
Well, come to find out that the memory I bought was not compatible. I'm hoping I didn't mess up my computer. What do you think? Did installing that ruin everything or will it run with the right parts?
As long as you replace it with the proper memory I don't believe it will hurt. I know of others who have done the same by mistake and once they got the proper memory all was well. Where did you get the memory? You should be able to return it for the correct ones.
I bought it online at directron.com I'm trying to do all I can to get it up and running as fast as possible!![]()
http://www.crucial.com/ is where I always have purchased new RAM. Their online scanner will give the correct type and amount to purchase. I have only had one instance where the incorrect type was sent, and that was once out of ten times I have purchased through them. That time I just called them, sent back the new and they immediately sent the correct ones.
