    Modem Ethernet connection

I'm not sure if this is the right place... but there are no stickies. If so sorry.

I'm wondering if there is an adapter of sorts to give my modem two ethernet connections instead of one... Reason being i have a PS3 & want an online connection (I know, hardly vital) however i've tried about 3 routers with it & it doesn't work with them for some reason... It does work when i connect it directly to my Modem though problem is it only has one ethernet port. so i have to keep swapping the wires about.

Not sure if there is a technical reaso why a device splitting one port in to two can't be used... but i've had a look around & can't find any.

    Thank for any help

Well, first off, a modem and an ethernet connection are two different things.

Before we go any further are you talking about a dialup modem, or a high-speed (DSL or Cable) modem?

Google search for (ethernet switch with network address translation) to plug into your modem. It will provide connection for other Ethernet devices, some switches are only a few ports and allow one to 4 devices, others are 8 or 16 or more.
