Recommended card for ASUS MB ??

    Greetings!

I am about to buy a ASUS P5E, and would like some advice on an appropriate graphics card.

I would like to get the EN 9600 Silent. (The ASUS Silent version of the GeForce 9600 GT 512MB)

I am not a gamer, but would like a relatively high end "business" type card, that would be suitable for multitasking, watching DVDs, some photo editing, NO video editing.

Am I limited to ATI/Radeon type products with this board, or are NVIDIA based cards also acceptable?

It has been a long time since I bought a card, and I am way out of touch.

    Appreciate any advice!

    Thanks!

You can save a little by going with an ATI HD-3870, there's one on Newegg.com right now for 179 with a 20 dollar Mail in rebate; total after rebate's minus tax/shipping is 159, pick up two of them for cross fire? Here's a link to MSI's HD3870 at newegg.com

By the way, may want to stick to p35 based Intel chipset as the asus x38 boards have dozens of issues that several people have been complaining about, including my brothers x38 based board that keeps dropping hard drives off the raid controller; crashing randomely etc... We tried to fix it.. It won't go; except in the trashcan.. I can also recomend an intel 975xbx2 based board.

    Thanks!

So it doesn't matter whether I use an NVIDIA based graphics card or an ATI based card?
