    Registry problem?

I recently used a registry cleaner to try and stop my computer restarting when I put in a previously burned cd or dvd. Since using this registry cleaner I seem to have lost my windows games and I can't load them from my windows disc as the computer can't read any of the files on the disc. Can I re-install windows without losing all my other programmes or will I end up with just the basic operating system?

The registry cleaner should have an undo section in the program.
Try undoing any changes that you made.

    Also try system restore.
Start > All programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore
Select a date just prior to your problem.

As you have found out..Registry cleaners are at their best, when not used.

That would be true depending on the program and the system it is being used on.
It is always wise to back up the entire registry before using any programs like that or even manually editing it, unfortunately many ignore to do so...
