What is the first scan you posted?

Im the friend he refer's to in his post, that first scan i believe is from the eset online scan if he did everything the way i told em to do it.

Please have him turn off the AdWare2007, and also the SpyHunter programs. Both are set to run at start up and are running in the background and could interfere with any fixes done.

Did he follow all the steps in the sticky?

I would also like him to run combofix using these instructions;

• Download combofix.exe by sUBs to your computer's Desktop.
• Alternate Download
• (If you already have a previous version, delete it and download a new version).
• Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
  Note: Combofix will automatically disconnect your Internet connection when it runs, do not reconnect it.

When it finishes, it ought to

• Produce a log for you. ( C:\ComboFix\ComboFix.txt)
• Restore your Internet connection.

IMPORTANT:

• Do not use your computer while Combofix is running.
• Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall.
  If you've lost your Internet connection when Combofix has completely finished, re-start your computer to restore it.

Please post that log for us. You can copy&paste this one into this thread.

Yes he did follow all the steps in the sticky as i walked him through most of it. He couldnt find the anti-malware log which is why it wasnt posted but it was run and it removed the problems it discovered.

He has bowling this evening but ill try to get a hold of him to apply the steps you've suggested for his next step as soon as he's able. I'll have him post it once he's done it.

Sorry for going about doing things this way but he's not very saavy when it comes to web boards and posting on them. Just know ill be monitoring the thread and helping him with the various steps. Thanks again JH for the assistance.

Hey, no problem. He does have at least one questionable program that I would recommend uninstalling and that is BearShare MediaBar.
Some other items showing in his HJT log but would rather he do the combofix first and look at the HJT log generated after that is run before making any other recommendations.
Be sure to stress to him he is not to use the computer while it is running and do not touch the mouse either until it is totally finished. If he does it will stop the program from running.

P.S. Frankly would also like him to uninstall Spy Hunter also and maybe AdAware 2007. We never have recommended Spy Hunter and the AdAware2007 just doesn't seem to be as good a program as it's predecessor AdAwareSE. We recommend Malwarebytes Anti-Malware now and also of course Spybot is still an excellent program. I use both of those myself.

having a problem running combofix exe with mcafee up and running . attempted to disable and end process on mcafee but nothin seem to work still comes up any time i try combofix and was wondering if you thought it would be safe to do any time of bill paying online at this time

Since we don't know what is on the computer, I would say no.
Can you go into the McAfee program itself and turn it off?
