F-Secure turned my Porsche Biturbo into a Ford Pinto!

F-Secure has slowed my PC performance way down. Watching youtube videos,
opening my web brwoser and even posting to here has been all slowed down
drastically thanks to the crap realtime protection in F-Secure. AVG
realtime protection gave no noticable slow down. Oh well, it was free
from my ISP so wanted to check it out but don't think I will keep it
installed for very long. Just a FYI.

One reason I keep my virus and spyware scanners on-demand only. If a
scanners won't work that way, or won't co-exist with another (like
Kaspersky) I don't use them.

Yea, I've uninstalled F-Secure now and gone back to my old config with
AVG Free. This time I didn't install the AVG resident shield either
because, like you, I prefer to scan manually. That's how I have always
run XP and have never had a virus. Vista Defender will let me know if
anything attempts to hijack my PC anyway so don't need real time scanning.

I use their free online scanner on my PC once a week and it works well.
I wait to do it until I know I'll be out for a while.
