lana really don't know how any of the programs you ran, if you used those in the sticky could have caused these problems.
You might try using System Restore to a time BEFORE these problems began

If a system restore is not an option then try running this to see if it helped:
(it may prompt you for the XP CD when running this):
1. Click Start
2. Click Run
3. Type sfc /scannow (there is a single space between sfc and /)
4. Click OK
