Thread: redirected to same ad many times during browsing

redirected to same ad many times during browsing

    Quite new with this.

    I use Firefox 2

Was browsing a page and when I hit the "back" button, it was (directed?) to a site for an ad. This happened many times. And is going on for 4 days, sometimes clicking the site name under history also does that.

Checked with Spybot, Ad-aware, AVG antispy but found nothing.

This is the ad and the address:
    http://203.76.192.254/1-37_87a9717e-...006111702.html
    http://www.unisilvertime.com/ads/2006111702.html

What is it? How to remove it. Thanks.

Clicking which site name...the one in the ad?
Clean your temp files, internet temp files and also browser cache and see if that helps.
If it doesn't then follow the steps given here PP's Sticky and then post back with a HJT log.

    Thanks.

I clicked on another site in my history side bar, but instead of going there it redirected to the unisilvertime site.

You really need to run the steps in the link I gave you. Also run and post a HiJackThis log for us. This is the only way we can maybe tell what is going on and start to help.

Go with the programs in PP's sticky. They are FREE. Not that those you note are not good programs, they are but Winpatrol is a paid program.

Advance Window Care is a program I am not familiar with so I cannot advise, except to say, I don't know.

Stick with what PP advises and I PROMISE you, You Cannot Go wrong. Those are the ones you need.

SpywareBlaster is a super program, I recommend it highly, as does PP, but that is a prevention program. So you do need some other cleaner programs. Go with those he recommends.

CCleaner is good for cleaning up temps and stuff, as long as you use Only the Default options. Don't change the settings at all.

I also use Firefox 2 as my default browser. Love it!
