I just got a gently used laptop but the previous owner has it setup to whenever you open a new folder the previous window stays open, so to get to a game in my program files it opens up 6 or 7 different windows that I have to close. How do I change it back to where it's a single window browser?

within an open folder click on "Tools" at the top and select Folder Options

. or Folder Option within the Control Panel

under the General tab find "Browse folders" section
select "Open each folder in the same Window"
click "Apply"
click "OK"
