People seem to be getting a lot of those errors when I try these registry merges lately.
Are you able to click Start > Run > type regedit and click OK. Are you able access the registry?
    * If you ARE able to access the registry, don't do anything yet!
-- Have you navigated the registry before?

Probably not a bad thing unless that it is gone - if indeed it is gone and not stealthed in some way. . . I may well have been removed at an earlier time.

-- Your Uninstall list is awfully abbreviated - I expect to see a whole lot more there. Does it match when you open Administrator account and look in Add/Remove Programs?

I thought that was from Dad/Main account. There ought to be more there (windows patches, etc...)

AVAST! is solid. Some people prefer AVG.
If you are willing to spend the money, I like Kaspersky Internet Security Suite.

    Happy to try to help!

Let's try this for the autoupdate problem:

-- Download the attached Fixit.zip to the Desktop and Extract the Fixit Folder to the Desktop.
-- Open the Fixit Folder and DoubleClick on RunThis.bat to run it.
Reboot and see if that helped. Let me know if there were any error messages.

Will check back as soon as I can, but that will likely be tomorrow....

A DOS window should flash, but it's really quick.

-- AVG is Free - see my linky below. AVAST! should be comparable.

Regardless of whether the AutoUpdate fix works or not, you should use IE and visit http://www.update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/v6/ and Install any Critical Updates that you may be missing.

Gotta run, but will be back tomorrow!

EDIT: I just looked at the picture again - You need to make sure the box to "Show Updates" is checked at the top of Add/Remove Programs . . . Though, I was not aware that had any bearing on HJT Uninstall List...
