    Spybot

Since downloading I have been getting several messages "spybot is trying to
alter an important file in your registry, do you want to allow?"
    Can this be trusted?

What program is warning you that Spybot is allegedly doing this......and
secondly, where did you download Spybot from??

Important questions. You may have downloaded it from other than the
proper website. And you give no clue as to where the warning is coming
from. And I have never heard of ANYONE getting this warning with
    Spybot.

The lastest version of Spybot 1.5.2.20 when downloaded from the Spybot
mirror sites DOES connect with a Spybot site during installation. The
connection does not bear he Spybot name and is an updater. Nothing
    amiss with this.
