I had the same thing happen to me and I also removed it. Have been using the Windows Firewall since and have no problems whatsoever.

ZA is a very good firewall when it works without issue but when it starts to acts up, it is a pain. I find Kerio, Sygate or even Outpost to be a better alternative. Also Comodo firewall is pretty decent.
