I checked and did not find any of those values in the registries ,where you mentioned I might find them.As for the start up items I did disable the ones that made sense,as to not needing them to run until needed.The lag still remains,although is has improved over tweaking the past few days,to where it only takes 5 minutes to shut down completely.The desktop remains onscreen for around 3 minutes before going to the actual shutdown screen.From there it takes somewhere around 2 minutes for the system to power off completely.Since I have confirmed that shutdown does operate properly and the system starts up with no glitches,I think I can live with it,since I no longer have to live with Norton .
Those registry keys are from XP, I thought Vista might have the same but apparently not and since I don't currently use Vista ( ), I won't be able to comment on it further but since you already disabled the startup entries Judy suggested and didn't help, then humor me and uninstal ZoneAlarm and then reboot, then see if the following reboots are delayed as well or not.
