I find that hard to believe, I used to average about 4-5 per week (for well
over a year), now I'm getting 6 - 8 per day?

Believe it. Spam ebbs and flows.
My parents are currently getting 30~50/day. That's with Verizon's SpamDetector turned on.
My father has a corporate email address that's not readily available and he get spam at the
address to.

Neither Ad-Aware nor SpybotS&D have anything whatsoever to do with the
email your receive. You should be asking your ISP, your email provider,
what they are doing with their filtering.
Also, the more you post your email address in public as you have done
here, the more often it will get harvested, and consequently the more
spam you will receive. Learn to mung your address (though it's too late
now).
Ad-Aware and SpybotS&D search and clean your computer of different
things: adware (duh!), and spyware/trojans, etc. They are companion
programs, not substitutes for each other.

Please don't top-post. And leave a bit of white space between
paragraphs. Thanks for your consideration.

Spammers have been harvesting email address from Usenet posts for years.
You posted with yours, in the From: field of your headers.
You got harvested. You are on the spammers' lists now.

That's exactly what Monsieur Shagnasty is implying in his post below.
>I started getting more the day after i came on here????
Self-explanatory then innit?
And further to owd Shagnasty's suggestion concerning top posting/bottom
posting, I personally consider it a pain in the arse to reply to a top
poster or decipher WTF he/she at times is even on about. Whilst I'm at it,
the lack of "snipping" worthless crap text from ones responce to a post also
gets up my snoz. Why include previous posters text in your reply unless
it's relative? Not only is it a complete waste of bandwidth, (ie: ending up
with a post of 10 or more KB's of unnecessary content) it also means one has
to scroll down, peel back the skin and pulp to get to the core. If you
can't get to grips with sorting the top posting habit, Google for "OE
Quotefix", that'll do it for you. After all, at the end of the day, it's a
simple matter of Usenet etiquette which IMHO is gradually being eroded
today.
HTH
Rant over, back to my popcorn and movie!

Now, now.
If you are feeling left out by not getting any spam, just post the address
you want it sent to, and I'm sure somebody will oblige you. <g>
