    and after the "@" in their handle is their business.

    Definitely coincidence. I've been using Spybot for years with no
    change in the amount of spam I get.

    Tiscali did have a rep for selling their customers email addresses to
    spammers.

    How much spam you get depends on how good Tiscali's anti spam filters
    are and also how good your own are. It also depends on where you use
    your address and how likely it is to be harvested in those places.
    Newsgroups (Usenet) are a favourite place for the harvester bots.
