    Re: AdAware 2007 Free

After reading some of the post, I decided to uninstall Ad-Aware 2007, and
installed SpyBot S&D. It found things that I had no idea was on my
computer. Some dated back several years ago that left behind tracks after
uninstalling them. It makes one wonder.
I suppose Ad-Aware is ok, but it sure bogged me down. I hope to be happy
    with SB-S&D. Time will tell.

Bob....you will be happy you are using Spybot, but if I may suggest one
more small program. Put SpywareBlaster on and it will stop a lot of
junk landing on your computer. It is free and small. I will get the
    link for you.

These two programs search for different things. One does not replace the
    other.

I agree. Adaware 2007 just did not play nice with XP on my system either.
Was going to reinstall SE but didn't think there was much reason if updating
was going to be a nuisance.
So just using spybot, and being a bit more careful of what gets opened.

I'm also running Winpatrol, so I get alerted to a lot of stuff that both
Spybot and Adaware never got upset about.

I got fed up with Ad-aware, switched to SUPERAntiSpyware, and
never found much of anything on my home or work computer. I was
beginning to think it was useless until last week when I tested it on a
laptop computer at work, that was seriously infected with spyware,
and it got rid of all of it.

I thought that was a pretty good test as my home and work computers
have Spyware Blaster, Spybot's immunizations, and WinPatrol running
on them, which prevents allot of spyware from getting on them.

The usual things on here are just tracking cookies but I know it works
because it found a few that Ad-Aware had missed <g>
As said I'm not that happy with Ad-Aware 2007 quite often when I go to
update, after it tells me it has caused a problem and needs to close <g> I
think in the near future I will take it off this system completely.

Heather, I have installed both programs you suggested, one question about
the SpywareBlaster. I don't see anyway to run it. Does it just sit there
unopened in the background and do its thing, and act as a gate to prevent
    something from coming in?
    Thanks for your input.

That is exactly what it does.

Make sure it is updated (something you need to check about once a
month) and that all protection is enabled.

After each update you need to "enable all protection".

Yes....Ron is 100% right. But I check it every 2 weeks. Do make VERY
sure that you click on "enable all protection" though.
