    Was Automatic Updates turned on for MS to install Silverlight?

    Jholland1964,

    You have helped me many times before on this forum, and I hope to be of help here. Silverlight is a Microsoft Update that can be gotten from update.microsoft.com. Maybe Silverlight got downloaded and installed "by itself" if orange gojo had Automatic Updates turned on?

    Personally, I have avoided installing it until I learned more about it. Funny thing . . . I came to this forum tonight to do just that, and after a search for Silverlight, I got this single thread about orange gojo's problem. Maybe it's the old Microsoft Devil at work?

    When I check that Microsoft Update site, it shows the following as an Optional Software update.
    =======================================
    Microsoft Silverlight 1.0 (KB946609)
    Download size: 1.8 MB , less than 1 minute
    Microsoft Silverlight is a lightweight browser plug-in for Internet Explorer and Firefox that blends animation, audio/video, and interactivity to deliver richer Web site experiences.
    =======================================

    Clicking on the "Details..." link on the MS Update site, I get this:
    =======================================
    Microsoft Silverlight 1.0 (KB946609)
    Date last published: 2/26/2008
    Download size: 1.8 MB
    Microsoft Silverlight is a lightweight browser plug-in for Internet Explorer and Firefox that blends animation, audio/video, and interactivity to deliver richer Web site experiences.
    System Requirements
    Recommended CPU: 500 MHz
    Recommended memory: 128 MB
    Recommended hard disk space: 5 MB
    =======================================
    You can find more info from MS about Silverlight from here:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/946609
    =======================================

    Hope this helps toward the solution to orange gojo's problem.

    Orange gojo and jholland:

    Ooops! I see I was way tardy on my above post. Apparently the problem was solved by uninstalling Silverlight.
