This sounds very much like a "cookie issue." I generally run Firefox with cookies disabled except for a few sites I regularly visit. Every now and then I run into this and have to enable cookies for the particular site.

Granted, this was right when IE7 was released and M$ has doubtless made improvements, but once was enough for me.

So, I would guess that your issue with IE7 is in the Security Settings. Frankly, I suggest sticking with Firefox. After you customize it to your liking with Extensions/Themes/etc..., you'll never go back to IE

-- BTW: I believe Sygate Firewall has not been supported for a couple years now. You might want to consider a switch.....
