Ok, not a problem. I'll uninstall Kaspersky. What programs would you recommend for security, virus, malware etc.?
Also what is next for the slowness, I.E. restarts and disconnects?

Have been going through your logs, even the incorrect Kaspersky one has shown some items.
There are several infections held in the recovery files of SpyBot...I would empty those out.
Also showing are some infected files which came in with a screensaver or some screensavers that you downloaded recently.
I see two...

Since we don't know which was the culprit I would uninstall both if they still remain.
Your anti-virus program...the AVG is fine, as is SpyBot. Keep those they are both good programs. You never said, how are you connected to the internet?
You said you did scans when you used the sticky link. Did you download and install the AVG Anti-spy program listed there? If not, please do so. Download it, install it, update it.
I would also like you to do at least two of the online scans there...skipping of course that Kaspersky one we know is incorrect. I just checked the other three and they all work and they all WILL fix anything found. Do at least two of those and let them fix whatever is found.
Once you have done that then reboot the computer in SAFE MODE and run that AVG Anti-spy program. Let it fix whatever it finds and it should generate a log, if so please save it. Then reboot the computer into normal mode and post back here with that AVG log. There are some things you can fix with the HJT program but would rather wait until you have removed Kaspersky and then done these other steps.
Sorry again about that Kaspersky mix up, have notified others here so they know it no longer seems to provide online scanning.

I deleted the two screensaver programs and ran spybot and avg scans then avg in safe mode. No threats were found in any of the scans. I ran a new HJT scan and have attached it also the avg log. Do you recommend using Windows Defender also what about Adware program?
I connect to the internet through a netgear modem with a broadband connection over local telephone line.

I must be getting sleepy. I can't get the file attaching area at the bottom of the post. I just lists the types of files which may be posted, not the usual area.
Also I can no longer get Internet explorer or windows sidebar.

Hmmm....sounds like "something" is going on but can't figure out what...
Can you just copy/paste the HiJackThis log INTO the body of the post? Forget for now about attachments and do it that way if you can.

P.S. have to be very honest here, since I don't use Vista I am not that familiar with it's various options so I have to rely on searches, etc., to get me some info. Checking on your Sidebar problem I did find this page with tells you how to use it and since this is unfamiliar to me maybe this will help you with the problem you are having with it now

I notice you are still running Spybot TeaTimer. This is unnecessary as far as I am concerned. Especially with the Windows Defender. I run Spybot but do not use TeaTimer. It is up to you but instructions on how to turn it off were given in post #2.
You have a lot of Sony services running at start up but I am not familiar enough with them to say whether they are needed or not. Most seem to have to do with the entertainment platform. You might do some research on these to see if they are necessary and if they can slow the machine.
You can run HJT again and place a checkmark next to the following;

Once you have placed these checkmarks then click the Fix Checked button.
Exit HJT.
Reboot the computer and see if it is still slow.
