    Still looking at your log but your question regarding the AOL file in taskmanager it is
    aolacsd.exe is a part of the AOL Internet Software and relates to the connection driver, essential to Internet connection.

    Ok, have had a good look through your log and it does look clean.
    There are a couple of things that you can fix with the running of another HJT scan. Nothing bad, just some clean up needed. Run HJT again and place checkmarks next to these entries and once you have placed the checkmark then click the FIX button and then Exit HJT;

    O2 - BHO: Malicious Scripts Scanner - {55EA1964-F5E4-4D6A-B9B2-125B37655FCB} - blank (file missing)
    O2 - BHO: CleanMyPCPopupBlocker Class - {7A9BC6B1-7F27-47c6-A66D-13582E81E537} - C:\Program Files\CleanMyPC Popup Blocker\CleanBHO.dll>>>you shouldn't need this as AOL does have a pop up blocker
    If I were you I would go to Add/Remove and uninstall this program. It is not needed. If you cannot find it in Add/Remove then go to C:\Program Files and look for the folder CleanMyPC and see if there is an uninstall option there. If there is none then Delete the CleanMyPC folder.

    As noted in the post above the entry running in the Task Manager and consuming 50% of CPU, aolacsd.exe is a part of the AOL Internet Software and relates to the connection driver, essential to Internet connection.

    Just look through your HJT log and you will see how many things AOL brings along when you install. To be fair and totally honest here, this is one reason I don't care for AOL. It brings too much with it that supposedly makes "surfing" easier when all a person really wants to do is go online, which truly can be done with a very simple local dial-up ISP or, if one can afford it broadband or dsl hookup, without all the supposed wonderful extras that AOL brings along. Very few of these things are needed...all a person needs is a way to connect. Either dial-up or broadband/dsl can easily be done without the added "bells and whistles" that only take up space, and as you have noted, can cause a huge amount of CPU usage and in the end can really slow things down. For an example, at this very moment, I have an email downloading, I have 5 browser windows open, I have my anti-virus program, a firewall and mailwasher running and checking my Task Manager I show 34 processes running and CPU usage at 4%.

    You do have some things running at Start up which really are not necessary for the running of the computer. All can be run manually;

    Auto updates for SpywareBlaster (a super program I might add) but these updates can very easily be run manually. This need not run all the time, turn it off. In fact the only program I have set to auto update is my anti-virus program, all others I do manually and do not allow the auto update features to run in the background all the time.

    Do you use the computer for Faxes? If not then this one can be set to manual and turned off;
    Microsoft Fax Service>>>you will find this in Start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services. Scroll down the list until you find Fax Service. If you DO use this service set the Start Up to Manual. If you DO NOT use it then set it to Disabled and click Apply.

    Smart Card Reader Driver>>>This is a non-essential process. Disabling or enabling it is down to user preference.

    AOLDialer>>> AOL ISP software dialer - can be activated through a desktop shortcut

    AOL Fast Start>>>This allows AOL to load in the background when your computer starts. This make the program launch quicker when you want to use it, but uses up resources.

    IE Page - Irrregular Goings ON

    Hi All

    Late response due to other pressing matters other than PC but better late than never.

    Your thoughts regarding AOL taken on board. Have thought of changing my ISP but for contractual reasons have not yet made the change. Nearer to end of contract will seriously consider changing.

    Carried out your latest suggestions and hopefully they are complete. No doubt after perusing my HJT log you will notify me.

    Attached is latest HJT LOG
