Well BEFORE uninstalling AOL be sure to set all up with a new provider, including a new email address.

Then transfer everyone in your AOL address book to the new one this way;
Send notification of new email address to ALL at the same time and ONE to yourself at your new address in with all the others. Then when you receive that mail all you have to do is add all the others to your new address book. Lots easier than trying to transfer your AOL address book because that IS a pain.

To remove AOL, be sure all browsers are closed and you are disconnected from the internet.

 Go to Add/Remove and remove everything AOL. Follow each and every prompt.

Once complete, reboot the computer.

Enable Viewing of Hidden Files and Folders

Next go to Start, Search, Files and Folders.
Type in AOL and click search.
Let it search for all and when the search stops highlight each and delete
Then do the search again for america
It should find some more. Be sure to check any found are AOL. Delete.
