    mozilla t/bird password problem?

ok have set up t/bird as best i know how got po and smtp correct as
    told by the host.

when i wanted to download new posts it asked for my password which i
typed in and then it gave me an authentication error which it now
remembers so each time i try to downloaqd new mails i get this same
    warning window.

i've looked in account setting and options and cannot eve see where a
password is listed let alone fail so help needed to fix this issue
    please?

Delete the account and then create a new
one. Be VERY careful what you type in the "user
    name" and logon password boxes.
I told you before to check the linked forum,
below, for Thunderbird help.....very good support
    site.

    g'day ed,

i have a post in the above forum as well.

that is the thing but i didn't type anything into any password box, to
tell you the truth i have looked many times for such a box and i can't
    find one in options/setup.

There is no password box in the setup options. The first time you
attempt to access the account, you will get a dialog window asking you
for your password. The window also has a choice to "save the password"
rather than make you type it with each access.

You can see if you've saved a password at:
Tools > Options > Privacy > Passwords tab
click the "Edit Saved Passwords" button for details

According to the radar, it should be snowing here as well. But it is
not. The weatherguessers have been saying "10:00PM" all day...

The cable company screwed up, and won't be doing the installation until
after Christmas, so now the actual moving day is in limbo. :-(

    g'day ed,

ok deleted the original account and ever so carefully did a new
account but still the same problem.

also the mozillazine link not much help at all been 5 days now since
the last reply that asked me for some answers to questions which i
    duely supplied.

so though i find firefox a good browser i guess i'm never likely to be
    using t/bird hey?

so from here on in there doesn't seem to many options apart from
    change the addy.

Millions of others are using it, so the answer is still some sort of
    incorrect setting on your computer.

Do you know of any computer gurus near to you who could stop by and help
you with the setup? Remember, the settings are going to be the same as
you have used in Outlook Express.

You don't have a firewall of some sort blocking
    Thunderbird, do you?
