    Removing Trend Micro IS

I tried TM Internet Security and then uninstalled it because I was trying a
few others. The problem is that I cannot get rid of all the fragments. For
example, on my control panel screen is the TMIS icon. When you click on it,
nothing happens and I can't get rid of it. I even used regedit and deleted
everything that is related to it. I recently installed another firewall and
it said that I had TMIS installed (which, of course, I don't). Anybody have
this problem and a solution? BTW, I left a message with TM and they sent me
the standard answer of how to uninstall a program (which I have tried
    several times).

I had that problem with "SUPERAntiSpyware" and had to use a tool
called "Move On Boot" to get rid of it.

I have searched for any files associated with the product, but can't find
any. Will this find them? If not, it probably won't help much.

    It's supposed to.

After download open the tool from "programs" and then follow the
instructions. It's worth a try. It's the only way I could get rid of
    the
    SUPERAntiSpyware icon from my desktop.

Here is another tool that works better than "Remove On Boot"
    it's called "Unlocker".

    Re: Removing Trend Micro IS

Neither of these worked as they both need file names to delete. I can't
find any file or registry entry that is part of the original TMIS. I also
tried registry cleaners but none seem to "find" any of the remaining
    fragments.

    What "fragments" are left?

The only thing you have mentioned
is the leftover icon in your control panel which both of these
    programs
    *should* remove.

How about dragging the icon to the recycle bin?

How about reinstalling TM and then use the "Revo Uninstaller" to
    remove
TM? It's a great free program removal tool. (use advanced mode after
clicking on "uninstall") I don't ever use add/remove anymore since
    finding this tool.

Re-install TMIS, then use this method...

    Using PCCTool

    1. Go to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\Internet Security 200x(where "x"
    is your specific version)\ directory.

    2. Double-click on the PCCTool.exe file.

    3. When the Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security window appears,
    click on the [E]Uninstall tab.

    4. When a confirmation dialog box appears, click on the Uninstall
    button.

    The uninstallation process begins.

When the system finishes the uninstallation, a confirmation dialog box
    appears.

    5. Click the Yes button to restart your computer.

This will remove the program from the Windows registry.

    *Reboot the computer*(this is important).

Using Windows Explorer delete the C:\Program Files\Trend Micro folder.
