You already have an answer in 24hoursupport.helpdesk, where you
multi-posted. Don't do that, please.

You guys don't get it. My daughter has the same problem as the Dutchman. You
can't go to a website because your browser is hijacked, so you can't
download anything or have a 'free' scan of your computer. All you can do is
hope for an update from your virus protection. My daughter got temp help
from the recent AdAware update, since that doesn't use the browser to update
or scan. But the virus re-attached somehow (she said she got an 'update'
from Microsoft, but I suspect it was trojan.win32.obfusgated.gx

Thanks, Beau, but you don't understand - if your browser is hijacked, you
can't use it to go get a remedy! She's stuck! I told her to download the
Netscape browser and hope that the trojan doesn't speak Netscape!

She's going to need somebody to research this for her with a computer
that can connect to the internet.
Downloading new internet software probably isn't going to help her. How
can she download the Netscape browser if she can't connect to the internet?
Somebody your daughter can talk to on the phone that has an internet
capable computer is going to have to look at Beau's link to see if it's
the proper solution and then tell your daughter what steps to take to
remove the offensive software.
We all know how much it sucks to have our computer infected with some
nasty software.
Most of us are here to try and help.

Bad advice. The trojan may do more than just hijack the browser. It
probably shouldn't be allowed to continue it's existance.

Yes I do understand. Print the page and hand it to her. Let her (or you)
follow the instructions to remove the trojan.

Use yours, not hers.

Forget Netscape. Get Firefox instead. Try Opera too.
http://en.www.mozilla.com/en/firefox/
http://www.opera.com/
and don't worry about the insecure Internet Explorer any more.
And how could she download Netscape if her only browser is hijacked?
