i have my wife laptop a gateway came with vista basic she hated it as well as myself, i have xp pro put it wiped all partion and i voied my warranty by doing so should i have done this i am kicking myself now any help appericated

it keeps giving me at startup memory dup and restarts memory dump and restart aww well i tried gave gateway the 20 bucks to get everything on dvd and maybe stuck with vista any ideas please help
