    CTFMON red flagged?

Hi all, can I get someone to look at this and let me know if there's a problem with my laptop? Pages take literally 3 to 5 minutes to load after a little bit of internet activity.

Fujitsu laptop running Windows XP sp2.

    Thank you very much!

Hi, welcome to the forum; I see you didn't get help at spywareinfo.. Unfortunately, our regular spyware helper is out for the weekend, so it may take a while to get help here as well.

I looked through your log, and although I'm not well versed in hijack this stuff; It looks OK. I don't see any of the regular bad stuff; There are a couple file names that are ID'd as system/application files as well as listed as possible virus/malware/spyware files. It looks like you have quite a few extra buttons and extra applications running but they don't look bad. You can safely remove this one in hijackthis; O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)

Have you tried any of the anti-spyware/virus application suggestions in the before you post guide?

If so; and they didn't turn up any viruses/malware, you could just have internet connection issues.

We need a bit more info on the computer itself....hard drive size and RAM installed for instance.
A quick look through of your log doesn't show me anything bad but you do have quite a few unnecessary items running automatically at start up and therefore running all the time in the background. Too much running in the background can certainly slow the computer.

    RealPlayer auto update
    MSN Messenger
    Yahoo Pager
    Yahoo Messenger
Java auto update (which is out of date by the way, current java version is version 6 update 3)
    Adobe Gamma Loader
    Adobe Reader Speed Launch
are some of what I see auto starting which can easily be run manually.

Has the computer always been slow on the internet or is this a new problem? If it is new...have you installed any new programs or hardware? Have you changed service providers?
Have you done a thorough cleanup of the computer...temp files, internet temp files? Have you defragged lately?

Thank you so much for your help! I removed the "O2 - BHO: (no name)" entry, as well as all of the Yahoo buttons, and the computer is running like a champ now.

I know you're all busy, and that this is a volunteer service, and I appreciate the help.

    Have a happy Holiday!
