Well, you see I had asked several questions where the answers might help
solve your problem, and you left them unanswered.

I wouldn't call me a whiz *kid*... being well into retirement and all.

It's not the forums causing the problem; it is the fact that you
published a working email address that appears on web pages, where the
spammers' bots (that's a robot program...) that scan all web pages found
it and added it to their list.

Cancel membership in geneology forums? No it will not stop; your email
address has already been harvested and is now on spammers' lists for a
very long time.

That was not the point. Your posting *guests* are leaving their own
email address in your guestbook, where *they* are being harvested by the
spam bots. That has nothing to do with your own personal spam problem.
It just creates spam problems for the unsuspecting posters.
