    Question Which program is better?

My friend recently got bitdefender, but before he installed it he found his old copy of Kaspersky and installed that instead. He gave me his registration key of bitdefender and I went to install it from the net, but it says that it could conflict with my AVG and asks me to remove it. Before I risk a noob-ish mistake, I thought i'd ask. (Also, I used to have an account on here, but I forgot my information, so I started a new one today.)

The AVG I have is only the 30 day trial and it has 4 days left. Should I remove it and use Bitdefender or re-install the AVG for another 30 days?

What do the more informed use for virus/spyware/adware protection?

AVG FREE is free. You can use this program or go with BitDefender. But the rule is ONLY ONE on a machine.

    Thumbs down

Well my copy of Bitdefender is free as well since it's a gift. But which is better. AVG free, or Bitdefender?

Probably go with the Bitdefender since it is paid program, each program has it's own merits. It is your choice.

As jholland stated, each program has it's merits. I've personally used AVG for 4 years now without any infections or issues, plus its free if you use the free version instead of the trial of the professional version.

I'm going to go with AVG free. If someone else replies and has another opinion that can sway me. I really appreciate any input that i've been given or will be given.

I honestly could not say which was better, only that I too have used AVG Free for some time (2001 or 02 perhaps?) and have never been disappointed in any way.
Installing it would be hard to argue against.

I have installed AVG FREE on numerous computers I have worked on for others. They have all been very satisfied with it. It is very easy to use and this was one of the reasons I have recommended it to others.
