You can try this to Reinstall Internet Explorer...

To Reinstall IE6:
1) Insert the Win XP CD

2) Open Start | Run and type or paste:

rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132
c:\windows\inf\ie.inf

I am running Windows 2000. I tried reinstalling IE6 using the downloaded version. Install completed, but still getting same error.

I have been able to install Firefox, but all the online scanners recommended here require IE.

What can I try without IE to remove remaining worms and viruses/spyware?

How many worms and viruses am I infected with?

Trend Micro's Housecall works with Firefox.

You have multiple viruses and trojans use the Housecall scan then do a new HJT scan and post it here. I will be looking for other solutions in the meantime.
