    new computer

Hello once again Judy.I have purchased a new computer and once everything is set up,I will post a log here to see what your suggestions are as to what needs to be tweaked. Also since I am learning the quirks of Vista ,I have a bit to learn before you hear from me on this matter.Having used ME for so many years this will be a new adventure for me.
I will check back in a few days to see if you have responded and will post my logs when I find the correct amount of time to make any and all changes necessary.

Congrats on the new computer...from ME to Vista...whew!
I have to be honest here, don't know much about Vista except to say...I don't know much about Vista.
Here is a link for tweaking...don't know much about it but you might look around there

If by log you are talking about HiJackThis then you have to use HiJackThis v.2 with Vista.

Feel free to ask for help, you know me, I love a mystery! I will be happy to search around and see what I can find out for you.

I've got Vista on my desktop so I will try to help as best as I can also.

BTW - Moving topic to Software, this isn't Malware/Spyware related.

    all help appreciated

Yes I know that it is quite a jump. The only thing I have yet to figure out is why some windows in explorer open to the fullest the monitor can hold and others only open partially.
The system I procurred is an Acer
5200+ Amd Athlon 64 dual core
    500 gig SATA HD
    3 gigs of ddr2 sdram
    radeon HD2400Pro 128mb graphics card
and lots of other bells and whistles.

I still have to get everything I am going to use set up,and get a few old programs I used in the past reinstalled.Anyways I will check back in a few more days and see what other trouble I can get myself into.

Also forgot to add that the monitor I am using is an Acer 22" widescreen.

Are you talking about Windows Explorer or Internet Explorer?

A word of caution...be sure that each and every program is Vista compatible. If it is not, then it will not run properly or at all. Before you install these old programs check their websites to find out if the program without updates IS compatible with Vista OR if it has updates available that you can download once the program is installed to make the program run with Vista. This IS a very, very different operating system...especially jumping from ME to Vista. Many people just going from XP to Vista ... (that is actually just a "one system jump", you have gone 3 really since between ME and Vista there were also 2000 and XP) have found that many of their favorite software will NOT run on Vista at all OR at least do not run without updates installed. Going from ME to Vista is a HUGE jump so check on ALL first before installing. There may be some favorite programs that you will actually have to purchase a new copy instead of updating since you are going from ME to Vista.

As always I am once again talking about internet explorer.I seem to make the assumption that it is uderstood which one I am talking about. As for the programs I am installing they are all online downloaded programs,so I wll assume that they will be up to date to run with Vista.

Be sure to read all info on online downloaded programs...SOME do not run with Vista.
