Spybot finds these but Adaware doesn't

This is a common occurrence on my Win XP Home PC. I just ran Adaware
(with latest definitions) and it found only one 'critical object', a
tracking cookie. (The quarantine log entry shows it was Referencefile
    : SE1R201 05.11.2007 TRACKING COOKIE obj[0]=IECache Entry :
    Cookie:terry@real.com/"
so I take it that it's something to do with RealPlayer.)

But then I ran Spybot (with latest definitions) and that found 6 more
tracking cookies: Adviva, Doubleclick, Mediaplex, Statcounter,
    Tradedoubler, and Zedo.

Those seem very familiar names to me. Why didn't Adaware also report
    them?

Cookies are not spyware. Read the following:

Thanks, but I know that. Do you know the answer to my question?

Different programs, different authors, so difference in opinion on how
"bad" a cookie's domain must be in the eyes of that author before
considering to classify it as spyware (which is an incorrect
    classification, anyway).

It's just like using hosts files from various sources. These files
are differently sized because the author(s) of those lists have
different criteria as to how bad something must be before considering
it bad enough to include in their list.

Since cookies are not spyware, expect a lots of variation as to which
ones are considered "bad", if at all. If 2 people were hosting shows
on the top 10 best dressed stars, you get different opinions as to
what is best dress and who qualifies as a star.

I would assume they just never got around to adding them yet.
Cookies are not really a priority, as they are fairly benign.
I would rather seeing them spending their time going after the really nasty
    malware anyway

I've been using both programs for quite a while now and found each week one
catches something the other misses, on average both seem equally as good as
    the other.

Use both and you are covered.

OK, thank both, understood. I hadn't realised it was quite so
subjective! I'll carry on using both in complementary fashion.

That solves it! We need a AMUN malware program.

Your mother is calling it is time to get back in your cage.
