I have been having a similar issue, but was able to refine the issue a
    bit.

I could not access www.google.com or any page starting with the www.google.com
domain (like igoogle). I could reach any Google sites that did not
start with www. (docs, mail, etc) and I could ping www.google.com with
no problem. Also, all other computers on the network could access it
    without an issue.

I worked on this stupid issue well into last night. I can say with
certainty that the issue was never spyware or hijackers (although I
did check). Nor was the issue with the HOSTS listing or with my
Linksys (still not sure what "record 64. as LAN" means).

I finally gave up and went to bed and it works perfectly this
morning. Anybody ever seen this behavior? I would love to know how
to address it in the future.

It was most likely a corrupted DNS cache. It could have been on your
computer or on whatever DNS server you are using.

This issue has actually returned again! I am looking around, but
cannot find any rhyme or reason for it. Any ideas how to reset the
DNS cache on a Linksys Router without blowing the entire settings away?
