You are not understanding how a HOSTS file entry works. You do *not*
enter 207.61.0.0 or anything other than 127.0.0.1 and the domain name
(for ad and nefarious site blocking). Use this only:

127.0.0.1 a248.e.akamai.net

With this above line in your HOSTS file, the browser will not attempt to
go to *any* IP address that this akamai server might use. You do not
need to care what its actual IP address is.

Here, have a look at a copy of my own personal HOSTS file. Feel free to
copy it if you wish. Copy the entire file and save it as just: hosts
without the .txt extension.

http://k75s.home.att.net/hosts.txt

You are using Windows XP ? Place the file in:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc
