I'm running an older version, and AdAware has always been slow.
However, not as slow as you are saying. I'll keep my older ver. if
this is the case. However, I do want to ask how big your hard drive
is? I only have 60gigs of space and about 25 gigs in use.

Now that would be annoying and I do seem to remember having a
problem similar to that when I first tried Spyware Terminator. I had
HIPS turned on then and I turned it off as the popups were getting
on my nerves. However, I think I will turn HIPS back on just to see
if I get a bunch of popups with the newest version.

Off of that page this is the one that most people are using "Ad-Aware
Personal 1.06r1" notice how much smaller it is than the 2007 version.
    (4.63MB compared to18.84MB)

Also only having 1GB of free space on your HD is probably another
reason that it's running slow. If you haven't done so in a while you
might want to do a temporary file clean up and make sure the recycle
bin is empty. Also get rid of programs you never use.

Just switching back to the older version of AdAware is gonna free up
    some space on your HD.
