I tried Prevx when it was offered for free at http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/
a couple of months ago and encountered similar problems to what the OP
is experiencing with SS.

Locked up my computer several times while trying to run a sweep, and
then I had a hell of a time removing the program from my computer.
