got xp working again this afternoon so with cmd.exe I can navigate to various directories without issues, including the ones that are problems for command.exe?? Tried command.exe again, same problems, it gives me "invalid director" error for alot of my folders, havn't tried it on drives that are not connected to the raid controller yet but I will do that and let you know.

That makes sense cause if I ever browsed to directories of other Windows flavors (9x/Me/2K), I've always used the default cmd.exe.
