    Re: Popups will not stop

The title bars are web addresses or IP addresses. None say Windows
    Messenger etc.
They all pop up in IE windows, even though (I thought!) I removed IE from my
    system.
The windows messenger service is disabled.

How can IE windows pop up when I removed IE?

    Thank you for your help

If you have Windows XP or Vista you can't remove IE, not completely.

Colour me blonde, but how can you remove IE and still use Outlook
Express to write this post?? And more importantly, WHY would you
*remove it*. Just don't use it. You still need it for updates, etc.

Or are you using another computer to write to this ng.

    Just wondering. HF

I am writing these posts on another computer. The one that is "diseased" is
the one I am trying to de-bug. It is not used for e-mail, however, I
imagine that IE browser can be removed and Outlook Express still remain.

    Hi Shaggy......

Thanks for pointing me to Tom's explanation. I will re-read it in the
morning. He is *the guru* for OE and IE.

I have been a tad suspicious that one of those 2 programs (CDClone or
Nero) just might come from other than the manufacturer's site. I use
Nero 6 on here and did have CD Clone on my old machine. They caused no
    problems with eZ Trust.

No.....as far as I know you cannot remove IE and expect OE to work.
Absolutely impossible!! (Shaggy, correct me if things have changed).

Get rid of the malware/viruses on your diseased computer and then your
AV will work. Not entirely sure if you would be able to access an
online scanner with it. But Shaggy will know.
