    Popups will not stop

Popups will not stop -- I am talking about one every few seconds! I have run
Adaware, Spybot Search and Destroy and Avast anitvirus software.
These programs always find malicious spyware but as soon as I clean it out,
they are back -- instantly. Even when there is no browser open, they will
come in. I have scrubbed IE and am using Firefox, but still no use.
The computer is on a wireless connection (if that matters).

I would appreciate any help. Thank you.

I am on another comp right now, but will post the title bar when I get a
    chance.

A couple of the items that the ads/programs will not get rid of are:
    Smithfraud-C and Drivecleaner2006

    Do these ring a bell?

    Thanks for your help.

It is 'Smitfraud-c' and it is a virus

Google it. Lots of programmes will kill it

PS drivecleaner is a rogue programme that cons you into thinking that
you are infected then wants money from you to clean their own rubbish off.

Yes, but I asked about the window title in order to rule out Windows
Messenger spam, which many folks who are unfamiliar with it, simply call
"popups." Does the title say "Messenger Service" or similar?

    http://www.stopmessengerspam.com/
    http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u.../stopspam.mspx

...and if this is what you are getting, your firewall is broken.

    Re: Popups will not stop

The title bars are web addresses or IP addresses. None say Windows
    Messenger etc.
They all pop up in IE windows, even though (I thought!) I removed IE from my
    system.
The windows messenger service is disabled.

How can IE windows pop up when I removed IE?

    Thank you for your help

    In article <U0Pui.20559$ug3.15937@trnddc06>, jaoa27@verizon.net says...

If you have Windows XP or Vista you can't remove IE, not completely.

Learn more about PCBUTTS1 and his antics and ethic and his perversion
with Porn and Filth. Just take a look at some of the FILTH he's created
and put on his website: http://www.webservertalk.com/message1907860.html
3rd link shows what he's exposed to children (the link I've include does
not directly display his filth). You can find the same information by
googling for 'PCBUTTS1' and 'exposed to kids'.

Colour me blonde, but how can you remove IE and still use Outlook
Express to write this post?? And more importantly, WHY would you
*remove it*. Just don't use it. You still need it for updates, etc.

Or are you using another computer to write to this ng.

    Just wondering. HF
