Let's hope they find one we can all use...

DARPA will host a Proposers' Day Workshop in support of the BAA07-52,
Scalable Network Monitoring (SNM) program on Thursday, August 16th, 2007 at
System Planning Corporation, Suite 3001, 3601 Wilson Blvd, Arlington, VA
22201, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The purpose of this conference is to
provide information on the SNM program; promote additional discussion on
this topic; and provide a forum for potential proposers to investigate
their capabilities for teaming opportunities.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVE AND DESCRIPTION: The objective of the SNM program is to
develop new approaches to monitoring computer networks independent of the
network size. The envisioned size of the Global Information Grid (GIG) and
use of IPv6 (Internet Protocol version 6) present new challenges to
information assurance. At the same time threats are shrinking in size and
signature, significantly reducing their equivalent "signal-to-noise" ratio.
As a result many conventional approaches to defending our networks will not
be sustainable. This project will explore new network-based approaches to
monitoring computer networks that provide maximum coverage with performance
independent of the network size and computational costs that remain a
constant (or decreasing) fraction of the computational power of the total
network being defended.
