Vista does not come with AV. It comes with Windows Defender which is an
antispyware application. There are a number of freeware antivirus apps that
work fine with Vista, such as AVG, Avast!, and Active Virus Shield. I'm
currently using AVS which is rebranded Kaspersky AV 6. I believe you can
still get it here:
www.activevirusshield.com
It may not be available much longer as AOL has switched to a McAfee suite.
By the way, AVS comes bundled with an optional AOL toolbar. Just remember
to uncheck the box during the installation if you don't want the toolbar.
Regarding firewalls, people say the Vista Windows Firewall is much better
then the XP version. If you want to try a third party Vista compatible
firewall have a look at ZoneAlarm Free and PC Tools Firewall Plus which are
both freeware.
