Thread: OnStartUP - Usenet starting

    Re: OnStartUP - Usenet starting

First let me say ignore the troll Leythos and anyone else who tells you to
post your log somewhere else. The log is text only it clogs nothing. It does
not screw up search engines, they use that excuse to keep people from
posting it here simply because they don't like me. Pick any line in your log
and do a Google search and you will see results from websites not newsgroups
so don't let them BS you with those lies. The truth is very few here are
able to diagnose the logs so as to not seem dumb they would rather not see
them (like you are really forcing them to read it) Now as for your log the
only 2 things I would change would be these lines. Have HJT fix these line
by placing a check next to each line then click on the fix checked button on
    the bottom.

    O4 - HKUS\.DEFAULT\..\Run: [AVG7_Run] C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVG7\avgw.exe
    /RUNONCE (User 'Default user')
    O4 - HKUS\.DEFAULT\..\RunOnce: [^SetupICWDesktop] C:\Program Files\Internet
    Explorer\Connection Wizard\icwconn1.exe /desktop (User 'Default user')

You should also update your version of IE.

Check your event viewer for errors. Look for errors that happened right
before the reboots and tell me what they are.

I went back to see if I could find the hotfix that I was thinking of
and the KB article is located here
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/890582 . It was supposed to be
included in the June updates but was actually from May.

    Re: OnStartUP - Usenet starting

    Hello,

    Thanks for taking a look...
If I can ask, what will stopping the AVP from starting do?

I also don't use Nero, so I attempted to Remove it in the Add/Remove
Programs, but it reported there was no files to uninstall. I checked Program
Files in Explorer and the Ahead directory is still there, so I renamed it
"Ahead OLD", went in the Registry and checked. Ahead is still there in HKLU.
There don't seem to be any other remnants that could hurt right now. Is it
okay to nuke the Registry folder (of course I will export HKLU first)?

    thanks,
    dc

If the like item says "RunOnce", is that something not really pertaining to

Those are both "Run Once" keys meaning they should run only once during the
next reboot. That is not happening here so the keys may be corrupted. They
may be trying to start but can't for some reason. It will not disable AVP.

Use Crap Cleaner then use the registry cleaner part of CCleaner. Run it
until it finds nothing, save a backup the first time you use it.

    Re: OnStartUP - Usenet starting

    thanks

The Event Viewer only had one error message numerous times. That was DCOM.
    Error message below.

    Event Type: Error
    Event Source: DCOM
    Event Category: None
    Event ID: 10005
    Date: 7/15/2007
    Time: 3:40:45 PM
    User: PC2\Don Coleman
    Computer: PC2
    Description:
DCOM got error "The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled
or because it has no enabled devices associated with it. " attempting to
start the service iPodService with arguments "-Service" in order to run the
    server:
    {7A7FB085-6068-4898-8CCA-480A9187277C}

I don't have an iPod or iTunes either...
This must have been installed without me knowing what it was.
I need to just remove all of that trash, in a safe manner of course.

I don't find DCOM in the list of Services

Going to work on CCleaner first...

    looking better already,
    dc

    In article <f7dc1m$agl$1@blackhelicopter.databasix.com>, pcbutts1
    @leythosthestalker.com says...
    > The log is text only it clogs nothing. It does
    > not screw up search engines, they use that excuse to keep people from
    > posting it here simply because they don't like me.

No, it's because of all of the Web groups that get feeds from Usenet and
are then indexed in Google and other search engines - so when you go
searching for a specific exe or malware file by name, they show up
hundreds of HiJack postings from those websites because the person could
not take the time to post them to a proper forum for review.

It has nothing to do with PCBUTTS other than he's always telling people
to post their logs in Usenet so that he can piss-off everyone with any
idea how search engines work. Butts can't help you with your logs, he's
got to paste them into one of the approved forums and then wait for them
to tell him what to remove, then he's reply to you. If you search about
PCBUTTS1 all you're going to find is how unethical he is, how he exposes
kids to PORN via his website, how he has been exposed stealing malware
fighters code and claiming it's his own, how he's been asked to stop
pirating and hosting vendors files on his porn loaded website....

Do you really want to follow advise by someone that exposes kids to porn
    and laughs about it?

Learn more about PCBUTTS1 and his antics and ethic and his perversion
with Porn and Filth. Just take a look at some of the FILTH he's created
and put on his website: http://www.futurehardware.in/595578-2.htm all
exposed to children (the link I've include does not directly display his
filth). You can find the same information by googling for 'PCBUTTS1' and
    'exposed to kids'.
