    norton security scan

Hi, I've installed this through Google. It took an hour to download and I
can't get it to run. It's stuck on 'downloading protection update'. Is
this an ISP connection speed problem or a virus attack?
    Regards,
    R

Installed what? If Norton go to:
    http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...05033108162039
and rid yourself from this resource hog.

Then treat yourself with a top-notch 'plain-vanilla' AV application:
AOL Active Virus Shield (a Kaspersky product)
    http://www.activevirusshield.com/ant...eav/index.adp?
(Do NOT download the toolbar offered during installation!)

    ....you'll be glad you did

Not at all. It is how Norton works (or doesn't)
