    What is 5eplorer?

Every time I start my computer I get an error message saying that "5eplorer.exe"
has encountered errors and will be shut down."

When I ran a search for "5eplorer", I found a handful of articles describing it
as a virus or spyware file that is so well hidden that most virus scanning
programs can't detect it and it cannot be found in Windows Explorer.

Whatever it is, it must be relatively rare, judging by the small number of
results I got when running a search. The site "PC Hell" doesn't even mention it.

If "5eplorer" is a virus or spyware file (and I'm not certain that it is), how
the hell do I get rid of it? I've already tried the most up-to-date versions of
"Spybot Search and Destroy" and "AVG AntiVirus".

I'm on a very limited budget right now, so freeware or very low-cost methods
    strongly preferred!

    My apologies.

I don't know whether my difficulties are virus-related or spyware-related or
both, so to increase the chances of getting the most useful possible answer, I
posted the messages to two newsgroups.

Did you try any of the scans in safe mode? Did you try moving or deleting
the file while in safe mode?

I'll admit I'm just suggesting wild guesses here, mainly because I couldn't
find anything much by Googling either.

    Scan with SUPERAntiSpyware:
    http://www.superantispyware.com

If that doesn't remove it, let me know and we can run a custom
    diagnostic on your system.

All you had to do was make one post but put BOTH News Groups in the header such the one post
went to both groups. That's called Cross-Posting.
