    Superantispyware program updates

For the second time now, SAS has popped up a notice that a newer version is
available with an option to download and install. I click on that option,
the little popup window closes, and nothing happens. So I go to the SAS
site, download the free trial version. It makes me uninstall my current
version and reboot. Then I install the updated version and it says my trial
period has expired. So I go into my email and search for the email with the
registration number in it and copy it into my clipboard and go back into
SAS to enter the number and it'll only paste the first 3 numbers in.
Fortunately it's still in the clipboard so I open notepad and paste it in
there and then write it down, then go back and type it in. None of my
preferences have been saved, so basically it's just like installing it from
    scratch again.
Is this the way an upgrade is supposed to be?
The same thing happened going from 3.6 to 3.7.

I just updated mine without any of the problems you encountered. A
little window popped up at the bottom of the screen and I said yes a
couple of times and I got the update. Version 3.8.0.1002.

I'm using XP SP2 home edition.

Nick will probably see your post and should be able to help you.

I just saw the update notice and had no problem with it either. Didn't
even need a reboot. Running XP pro SP2.

That indicates that something is blocking our SSUPDATE.EXE from
accessing the Internet to complete the download. Check your firewall
to ensure SSUPDATE.EXE and SUPERANTISPYWARE.EXE are allowed access.

I'm running through a router and the only firewall I have is the Windows
    firewall.
Obviously, whatever the problem is... it's something on my end.
I don't have any problem getting definition updates. I have a huge HOSTS
file. I'll look in there. Problem is I don't really have any way of
testing it till another update comes along... :-)
Thanks for the reply Nick. And you other two guys as well.
