IE oddness

I'm using AVG and ZoneAlarm, so I don't normally experience much "funny
business", but something weird is happening.
Every now and again IE will start all by itself, opening either one of these
pages,
http://iterblog.blogspot.com/
http://www.edudown.com/
neither of which is dangerous, as far as I can see.
Any ideas what could be causing this?

Do you have any active desktop items pointing to those domains? If
so, it is possible that Windows is attempting to update the ADI and
the target no longer exists. Just one possible explanation....
